Key takeaways

The findings highlight substantial differences in agent mobility across U.S. markets, with some brokerages facing significantly greater recruiting and retention pressure than others.

  • Elevated Pressure: Several markets are experiencing agent switch rates well above the 9.0% U.S. metro average.
  • National Benchmark: The average annual agent switch rate across the analyzed markets is 9.0%.
  • Extreme Local Activity: Four markets recorded annual switch rates above 20%, led by Spartanburg at 30.7%.
  • Recruiting Opportunity: High-switch-rate markets represent significant opportunities for brokerages to identify and recruit agents who may be open to a move.
  • Increased Vulnerability: The same market conditions that create recruiting opportunities can also expose brokerages to greater agent attrition.
  • Strategic Planning: Market-level switch-rate data gives brokerages an early view of recruiting and retention pressure, helping leaders focus their efforts where agent movement is highest.
