Key takeaways

The findings suggest that recruiting and retention pressures remain elevated in many markets despite broader industry stabilization.

  • Elevated Pressure: The findings suggest that recruiting and retention pressures remain elevated in many markets despite broader industry stabilization.
  • National Benchmark: The average annual agent switch rate across the analyzed U.S. metro markets is approximately 9%.
  • Extreme Local Activity: Four distinct markets exceeded a 20% annual switching rate, indicating unusually active recruiting environments.
  • Brokerage Opportunity: High-switch-rate markets create significant expansion opportunities, as more agents are actively evaluating brokerage alternatives.
  • Increased Vulnerability: The same conditions that create strong recruiting opportunities also increase a brokerage’s risk of agent attrition.
  • Strategic Planning: Market-wide switch-rate trends provide an essential early warning system, meaning brokerages in high-mobility areas must prioritize proactive retention and engagement strategies.
